The works The Postument I, The Postument II, and The Shelf were created in connection with the theme of the group exhibition Non-places – Hypermodernity. The topic is inspired by the reflections of the French ethnologist and cultural anthropologist Marc Auge, who describes non-places (anonymous places – stations, metro stations, airports) that are filled with the presence of people, but seem to remain “nobody’s” spaces.
The works are freely referring to the theme. It becomes an inspiration for fantasies about other places that are outside the field of our attention. The works from the “Postument” series show non-places found during the considerations about the exhibition space of the gallery (although, as it seems, they have a broader metaphorical potential – perhaps also much more important). “Shelf” is a fantasy about a unique non-home place.
